Ask any of our members and they'll likely tell you that league comps are the best part of lifesaving. Making use of all your training and competing together as a team (whether that's winning or getting disqualified together) is what makes comps so special, and the socials after as well as meeting people from unis all over the country make each comp unique.

BULSCA League CompsWe have six league comps this year, forming the majority of our competition calendar! These competitions are exclusively for university student teams, making them great fun.
This 2020-21 academic year will see competitions in:
These are each one day competitions on Saturdays. Each league competition consists of a pool based 'wet' SERC, a non-pool based 'dry' SERC and three speeds relays. This is followed by food and results in the Student's Union together with everyone from the comp. After results is the option to return to Warwick or else to stay for a social and to explore the various cities' night-lives - the highlight of which is definitely the 3am booking at the curry house in Birmingham! |
BULSCA Student ChampionshipsStudent Champs is the highlight of our calendar, which sees squads entering from not only UK universities, but also from the University of Athens!
The competition lasts 2 days: the first focusing purely on Speed events, and the eagerly anticipated second day consisting of two SERCs which are always very inventive - this year included a campsite disaster and a boat crash (with real boats)! This coming September (2020), we have also been invited for the first time to Greece to take part in their university championships (dependent on the COVID-19 situation)! Speeds CompetitionsThe Royal Lifesaving Society (RLSS) runs four national competitions dedicated purely to speeds throughout the year. These are completely optional, and differ from the university speeds events in that they are made up of individual events in addition to relays, and are open to all lifesaving clubs in the country! These competitions are perfect for ex-swimmers, allowing your competitive streak to show against the fastest lifesavers in the country. Check out the video below for an idea of what we get up to at a speeds comp:
