Due to COVID-19 our training sessions may look a little different. Click the button below to see our current training plan.
We usually meet 4 times a week. Attendance to all sessions is not compulsory! Feel free to join us for any session.
Swimming Fitness (TBC)
Our Monday training sessions consist of a unique swim set, designed specifically by our Speeds Training Officer, Emma, to improve fitness levels and work on both swimming skills and more specific lifesaving speeds skills. These sessions are a great way to keep fit in the pool together as a group and because they involve lifesaving speeds skills, are much more fun than a general swimming set would be! Typical sessions may include:
Dry SERC and First Aid (TBC)
Westwood Games Hall Lecture Theatre
This takes place in Westwood Games Hall's Lecture Theatre and is currently being taken by our SERC Training Officer, Jacob. The first half of this session will be dedicated to general first aid skills ranging from learning how to tie slings to practising CPR. The second half of this training session will be where we put those skills into practice with various dry team based SERCs (Simulated Emergency Response Competitions).
Competition Training I (TBC)
This training session is one of our competition training sessions. The first hour is taken by the Speeds officer, Emma, where we go though techniques and train for league events. The second hour is dedicated to SERC training specific to wet SERCs. This will be taken by our SERC officer, Jacob. This session is also used for courses and qualifications. If you are interested in obtaining Bronze, Silver or Gold level Lifesaving qualification which will allow you to compete in Championship competitions. The course coordinator, Henry, will be organising this.
This training session is our second competition training session. It has the same format as the other session.
